Kanpai 1 in Savannah

Best sushi I've had in Savannah yet! Large slices of sashimi, so fresh and beautiful presentation. They could charge more and I'd pay it.

Fresh and clean can't go wrong!

Dine in - Simple lunch order i gave the girl "Small order Steak and scallops with the fried rice cooked with egg carrots and chives"... I get my plate and it's a Large order, with a side of onions and a whole fried egg on top. I told the girl that isn't what i ordered and she walked off. The shorter girl came and told she could remake my meal, but that I should have been more detailed, that the waitresses there need better explanation. I told her not to remake, I was on a lunch break and needed to return to work. I ate what was made and was charged full price for everything (including the egg and side of onions). To cap all of that, the waitress that originally took my order was rude the remainder of the time I was there. And refused to acknowledge me.

Slow service, food was done but cold by the time it got to my table!!!

Spent $44 on 3 meals. So we got a steak and shrimp, chicken and shrimp and scallops and shrimp. Steak and shrimp standard goods. Chicken and shrimp standard goods. Scallops and shrimp was 2 scallops and shrimp. Average except for the scallops. Need 2 more scallops then it would be at least average. ‘‘Tis is life when you’re talking take out I suppose.

Always love going here. Sushi is awesome!

They got tasty food for a cheap price

Last year was solid 4 but had to go 2-3 on this review. Last several times my to go order was wrong. And my last visit I ordered my food we called it in, they said 30-40 minutes...we got there 35 minutes later...waited....waited....30-40 minutes later food was ready. take home, my food was cold. Wife's food was ok and the order was actually correct...just took a total time of 1 hour and 15 minutes. My politeness kept me from complaining but I don't see myself going there again for a long time. One bonus...when you go in and sit down it's usually fine....to go order, forget about it.

THIS IS HORRIBLE!!!!! I’ve NEVER had a waitress follow me because of a tip I left... first off she didn’t even check up on us as often as a waitress should. Her attitude was horrendous! YES I spent $88 on my bill BUT this HORRIBLE B forgot my fried rice. Tipping is earned not required. If her customer service was better I would’ve tipped her better. I work in a business where I live off my tips so I know how this goes. Change of attitude would def earn her some more tips. Blonde woman! Don’t ever have her serve you!!!!

Ordered a large order from DoorDash from them, even called immediately after to verify and when the order got there half of it was missing. I called and they said they have the order, nothing they could do but I could come pick it up and they would give me some “shrimp sauce” and a desert for my troubles. I got there, the order was still incorrect, no shrimp sauce and no desert. I told the girl who was very rude and went and got her manager. The manager tried arguing with me saying it was door dashes fault. He said they are supposed to check the order before leaving. I guess he thinks people want their delivery drivers opening my box of food and counting my sushi rolls, instead of just making sure it’s correct the first time. In the end he gave me one scoop of ice cream and an attitude for my troubles.

Came here for sushi, my rainbow roll was completely drenched in lime juice for some odd reason, first time I’ve ever seen a Japanese restaurant do this, couldn’t taste any of the fish. The other rolls were no better, service was very average. Mediocre sushi priced at a high premium.

Love love love. So delicious!!! Dragon roll is my fave.

Food is always great! My first place trying Japanese food ages ago now, and have never been disappointed - by the food or the staff. If we still lived in the area, we'd come here all the time!

Really liked and staff is nice. Although do not pick it up and eat it at home as the quality is not as good.

Staff was very friendly, pleasant, and attentive. Calamari and mushroom soup were great. We ordered the chefs special role and customized our own- it was very good. Prices were great. Great experience

Great place if you like Oriental food. Great Sushi I'm told.

Love their cheese wontons, and love the Power booster. One of my favorite places. Always happy when I leave.

Food was so salty , even the salad was floating in soy sauce.

The first time I had this place, I got the teriyaki chicken and it was really dry and not great. The second time I had sushi and that was actually pretty good. I'd have it again just for convenience, but I wouldn't really recommend it unless you live in the area.

Nothing terrible, just nothing special. If a friend wanted to go I would go, but I wouldn't choose it on my own.

Japanese food, very tasty. The service here is friendly. It has an awesome feel to it. Menu is similar to a restaurant in El Paso I liked.

Udon stir fry was good. Hawaiian sushi was excellent. Service was great. Wish I could remember the young waitress' name!

The first time we ate here, it was 5 stars. The second time slipped a bit. However, the third time was not good. Poorly trained staff who weren't competent. Pompous (undeservingly so) sushi chefs. It's a shame.

Been going there for years. Great service, fresh sushi, and some ofthe thickest slices of sashimi compared to other restaurants for the price point paid. Love *

Just a simple little Japanese American steak & sushi bar putting out a decent product for a reasonable price. If you are in the area, give them a try. The hot meals are my preference, but the sushi isn't bad.

BEST SUSHI AROUND!!! Hands down...

Enjoyed my first trip to Kanpai today. The sushi we ordered was very good. The miso soup was good. Steak and scallop dinner with fried rice and vegetables was pretty tasty so all in all I would recommend this place and will go back in the future...

By far the best sushi around. Both of the sushi chefs that work there are top notch. The prices are amazing and the quality is unparalleled. I eat there once a week!

Not even gonna lie. I love this place the food is always amazing as is the service. The Teriyaki sauce is some of the best I've ever had. And that mushroom soup is so good it will make your tongue beat your brains out. Lol

My Food and Service was excellent. I had a great hostess named Grace. My server Aaliyah was excellent and very attentive and was quick and friendly. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a great place to eat on Wilmington island

Good service, but the food was horrible. We felt horrible when we left, the sushi wasn't bad but the rice and chicken were not good at all. Me and my husband both felt very sick when we left.

Order there almost every day and I have not been disappointed.

Great food ,friendly staff ,sushi was awesome!!!

My cousin who lives in Savannah, GA brought us to Kanpai for some dessert. (We were visiting from New Jersey). Their special Lava cake was so delicious. The soft and moist chocolate cake was very warm and topped and surrounded with cold ice cream and whipped cream. My kids love them. And the mochi ice cream (different flavors) was also delicious. I like the green tea flavor the best. They also have the unique Japanese soda where there is a marble that you will push in to open it. My kids had fun opening the bottles. They serve great desserts here. Service was excellent. We are glad we stopped by here. We will visit again if we are in the area.

Food was amazing, service was outstanding, and owner was incredible! If they can do this well during a pandemic, can't wait to see what they can do when this is over! See you again soon!

Love this spot for a good lunch and very affordable.
